JOB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to research, design, implement and monitor risk management solutions in the check cashing and short term loan business. The overall idea is to conduct analytical studies of the check cashing and loan business to determine opportunities for reducing the risk of charge-offs or increase the number of good transactions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identify opportunities for risk reduction or volume increases by implementing models and predictive analysis.
• Quantify the size of the opportunity, the impact in terms of volume and the impact on profits.
• Design solutions (e.g. parameters, rules,…) that address:
a. Avoiding high risk transactions
b. Increasing lower risk transaction volumes
c. Evaluating the economics of alternatives
• Work with the information systems development staff to build the solutions.
• Test and verify the developed solution
• Routinely monitor and adjust solutions to insure high performance

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Daily supervision and leadership for analytical staff (2-3)
External vendor negotiations and testing of services and databases
Routine interaction with executive management on opportunities, status and trends

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Bachelors and preferably masters degree in mathematics, economics, statistics or other quantitative analysis disciplines

Industry:
• Experience in consumer finance or consumer-targeted models preferred

Technical:
• SQL or similar data extract tool
• SAS or similar statistical modeling tool

Communication:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Overall:
• Outstanding analytical skills and inquisitive, curious approach to modeling risk.
