Description
Harmonic is creating next-generation products based on MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/AVC technologies, with breakthrough performance, density, and functionality. Be a part of the team creating the new technologies and architecting the products.
Harmonic has sold more professional video encoders than any other company in the world, and we are expanding our technology in new directions. You will have the opportunity to help define Harmonic’s cutting-edge products, which traditionally features a blend of DSPs, ASICs, and FPGAs. You will be able to create, develop, and implement new technologies on these high-performance platforms.
As a Staff Development Engineer, you will help design, develop, and release critical video processing software for revolutionary new products. You might analyze and optimize rate control for a new High Definition transcoder. You might define new features for a mobile multimedia processor. You might develop an improved way of managing variable bit-rate video+data systems over IP networks.
You will work with other Engineering groups and with Marketing to explore new product architectures and technologies and to manage their transition into development, through documentation, discussion, presentations, creation of reference software, test plans, test tools, etc. You might author a specification of a bitstream processing product. You might meet with outside companies to evaluate cutting-edge processors.
Required Qualifications
Your real-time embedded and/or DSP software development experience with video/multimedia transmission and multiplexing, real-time multithreaded programming, and/or DSP optimization experience will be fully utilized to help us create next-generation products based on MPEG-4 / AVC technologies. Your organizational skills and personal drive will help lead Harmonic into new technology areas and markets. In this position, you can grow your technical and project leadership skills.
